Barb Vallis

A four time graduate from Cape Breton University in the Bachelor of Arts; Business Administration; Para Legal, and Public Administration programs. Barb has a keen interest in Public Administration after working as a senior administrator.
Her past employment provided valuable experience in performing duties with public and private sector entities.  Her  education complements  her  administrative skills, as it provides the background knowledge in finance, contractual law, board governance, and general administration.
Proficiently trained in FOIPOP; she has developed and implemented the ISO/9001-2000 procedures for her previous employer.  Trained as an ISO Auditor and Coordinator; she was the liason for all external financial and documentation audits. 
Barb’s past work on various community projects and business development initatives has been a strong point throughout her career. Her in- depth work experience has given her the opportunity to develop internal/external partnerships in dealing with various private sector entities, as well as, government departments and community organizations. She has been involved with with various Boards/Commissions/Committees throughout her career.
Previously, she was selected as representative to meet the Minister of Human Resources Canada to present partners’ role of a program entitled ‘Skills Inventory Program,’ a program which was later modeled across Canada.   
She now enjoys being a part of the team at the Verchuren Centre; applying her past work experience and knowledge to the various research projects and business development initiatives in which the Centre is involved.
